Goals and Mission of the Music Ministry

-To feed the members of the choirs and the congregation with music that provides a Christ-based worship experience for both the head and the heart;

-To provide "family within a family" fellowship and support for members of the choirs and their families;

- And to extend the music and non-music ministries of our choirs and team beyond the doors of the church ...

Come be a part of the Music Ministry at St. Luke - Simpson UMC

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir, for adults 16 years and older, meets on Wednesday evening, 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. The group sings every Sunday at both the 8:30 & 11:00 a.m. services, and performs special programs, cantatas and musicals 5-6 times a year. Soloists and small groups (like the Men's & Ladies Choirs) drawn from the Chancel Choir provide special music at many different services during the church year. The Chancel Choir presents music drawn from the best and most meaningful of classical and contemporary Christian choral works, and presents many anthems specially written for our choir.

Chancel Bells & Heavenly Echoes

The Chancel Bells are a group of 10-12 people who meet on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. to practice the art of English Hand bell Ringing. A form of music making which relies more than any other on the ability to function as a team, it is also very physically demanding and requires mental agility. When added to a worship service, it can be very exciting and uplifting. They play at the 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. services once a month and at special programs during the year.

Heavenly Echoes is a mixed youth & adult bell choir. They meet on Tuesday evenings front 6:30 - 7: 15 p.m., and ring about once a month at the 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. services and at special programs during the school year.

Our hand bell groups perform on a 5-octave set of Schulmerich hand bells, as well as a 3 octave set of Suzuki tone chimes.

Praise Team

The Praise Team is made up of two vocal teams - Team East and Team West - each of which leads worship at the True North service (9:45 a.m. each Sunday) two Sundays per month. The band (Team South) and vocal teams rehearse on Tuesday evenings 6:30-8 p.m. If you are interested in singing or playing on one of the teams, contact Bill Rose or Linda Findley for more information.

Youth Music

The Youth Choir and Youth Praise Band, for middle school and high school students, does a (vide variety of music - classical to CCM. These groups meet on an ad hoc basis to prepare for specific worship services and activities, and are a mission choir, with the primary goal of taking the good news from the church to the community.
